Tryouts

Tryout jersey included:

• 6U/8U: $25
• 10U-12U Skater: $150 on or before 3/17/25, $200 after
• 14U-18U Skater: $150 on or before 4/7/25, $200 after
• 10U-18U Goalies: FREE

Tryout jersey included:

• 10U-12U Girls Skater: $75 before 3/12/25, $100 after
• 10U-12U Girls Goalies: FREE

The reason there are multiple sessions available is just that overall numbers are too big to fit all kids from one age designation on the ice together. We need to break the groups up across multiple ice times, and having you select a level to tryout at is a good place to start.

Using the 12U age group as an example for the 2025-26 year, we have listed:

• 12U A/B (2013-2014) - this group will typically form 2-3 teams across the A and B levels dependent on overall registration numbers. Tryout here if you do not anticipate being in the mix for our highest level teams at your birth year.
• 12U-AA (2013-14) - this is our highest overall team at the 12U age designation, the intention is for this team to play in the AA division as well as any other appropriate competition or leagues available.

These are just starting points for the club to productively assess each age group over a limited amount of tryout days. Once tryouts get started, we may request that kids switch to different ice times as necessary to help finalize decisions as well. We should end up with 4-6 teams across most age groups next year, and we will look to place each of those teams in the appropriate division following the tryouts (AA, A, B, National, American, etc). • 6U/8U (Mites):
• As 6U/8U players will develop and grow significantly over the summer, Princeton Jr Tigers do not plan to assign individual teams until we enter the Mite Jamboree later in the fall. All 6U/8U players are re-evaluated over the first few weeks of practice.
• Full-Ice Mites: For 2017 birth years, there will be an option to participate in the Full Ice Mites starting in the second half of the season.
• 16U & 18U:
• Princeton Jr Tigers field "short season" teams which play a condensed schedule due to high school hockey and academic considerations.
• Extended Season: PJT will offer a 16U/18U extended season option if there are enough committed interest from players.

The tryout dates are set by the Atlantic Amateur District Association (AAHA) and apply to all USA Hockey youth programs in the Atlantic District. PJT does not determine the tryout dates nor are we allowed to hold tryout dates prior to these dates.

For the 2025-26 season, the Princeton Jr. Tigers is offering stand alone girls teams at the 10U and 12U age groups. Team levels will be determined after tryouts based on the makeup of the rosters.
